Today we are announcing our campaign’s decision to cease posting Facebook ads, starting immediately. Along with many businesses and organizations across the US and Canada, we are committed to standing in solidarity against the hate Facebook has let perpetuate across the platform. Allowing violent content directed towards the many protesting the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, Ahmaud Arbery, Rayshard Brooks and others. This is absolutely unacceptable. Hate of any kind, online, or offline must never be tolerated.

This is one of the many steps we need to take in our collective effort to call out systemic violence and oppression when it happens and work towards justice. Today we are also reminded of colonial events like “Canada Day” that continue to uphold violence and genocide. Acting in solidarity means that we must be committed to listening and action. So today as we stop Facebook ads we will step up and join in the call to cancel “Canada Day” and commit to active decolonization.
